Police arrested 42-year old Phatuli Shah on the charge of raping two minors in a guest house at Koteshowr, Kathmandu. The police team deployed on duty from Metropolitan Police Sub-division Koteshowr rescued two girls aged 12 and 15 years from the guest house on December 1. Both children are kept under the protection of Maiti Nepal.
Police operated the mission after they were informed about the possible child trafficking. The accused brought both the children to Kathmandu by convincing their relatives with the pretext of educating them. Police arrested Shah based on the complaint lodged by Maiti Nepal.
Shah is originally from Banaha of the Saptari district. He used to make frequent visits to the victim's house in Makwanpur. The initial investigation showed that the accused brought the duo to Kathmandu via bus and allegedly raped them.
