Locals padlocked the office of the road project due to poor construction quality

2021-12-13

Locals padlocked the head office of the Project of National Pride 6-lane road project connecting Rani, Itahari, Dharan and Kimathangka on the Chinese border. They padlocked the office in Itahari saying that the project has done poor quality work. The contractor company had tried to move ahead with the work by placing a home pipe in the main chowk of Itahari under the project.

However, the locals had demanded to keep the culvert saying that there would not be enough drainage from the home pipe during the rainy season. Locals had also protested when the home pipe was installed last April. After the protest, the contractor company and the project had agreed to remove the home pipe and construct a culvert with a slip. However, they have started agitation after the project started paving the road with home pipes instead of constructing culverts after 8 months. Locals took a stand not to open the lock of the office until the culvert is made by pulling out the home pipe.
