Farmers of Saptari picketed the district administration office demanding chemical fertilizer on December 15. They have been agitating for the past few days demanding chemical fertilizer. They complained that they did not get chemical fertilizer while sowing wheat. Demand for DAP fertilizer is especially high when planting wheat.

Soney Lal Murmu, acting branch manager of the Agriculture Materials Office, Rajbiraj, said that they have been providing fertilizer on the recommendation of the municipality. He said that it was not possible to distribute manure directly to the farmers. According to the Agriculture Knowledge Center Saptari, the area under cultivation in Saptari is 81,668 hectares or 64 per cent.
