Students enrolled in MBBS in Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) padlocked the college on December 20 after the college demanded an additional fee of around Rs 2 million which is more than the prescribed fee by the Medical Education Commission. Similarly, student Suraj Das said that they lodged a complaint at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, against KMC College, alleging that it was charging extra fees.
The Medical Education Commission has fixed Rs. 4 million 23 thousand in the Kathmandu Valley and Rs. 44 million 36 thousand 25 outside the Kathmandu Valley for MBBS study. However, KMC College has been urging the students to pay Rs 6 million in various titles after paying the first instalment, said a student.
