Locals blocked the East-West Highway at Lamki in Kailali on December 24 with a joint protest demanding justice in the murder cases of Bhupendra Baduwal of Lamkichuha Municipality-1 and Arjun Das of Janaki Rural Municipality-9.
Locals are continuously agitating with an eight-point demand against the murder case of Das found in the Amaravati Community Forest of Janaki Rural Municipality-9 last Saturday morning on December 18. Similarly, relatives of Baduwal, who was killed with a sharp weapon in Tikapur on December 9, are also protesting against the release of three accused on bail by the court.
Police have not yet arrested nine accused, including Navin Rawal, who is said to be absconding in the Baduwal murder case. Police said that their search is ongoing. One person has been arrested for being involved in the murder of Das but the other accused are absconding. According to Kailali Police, the search is on as they have been identified.
