Sudurpashchim, Bajhang, Durgathali, Ward 2
Locals of Bajhang Durgathali Municipality-2 padlocked the ward office demanding an embankment to protect the village in Durgathali municipality of Bajhang. The village municipality had allocated Rs. 4,00,000, for the Danimpata and Damai Village in the Fiscal Year 074/075.
According to local Binod Sarki, the road from Chaudhary to Danimpata village was cut off after the residents of Chakha did not give them land. Siddha Sarki claimed that the ward chairman had been informed regarding the danger that village has been facing and they were forced to padlock as the ward chairman did not show any interest. Locals have complained that even though the Far-Western Provincial Government has allocated Rs.1 million for the landslide control in Damai village, the committee formed an agreement without informing the villagers. According to the locals, the padlock of the ward office was broken by the police.
According to Dipak Soti, ward chairperson of Durgathali rural municipality-2, the padlock had to be broken because she was not informed regarding the padlock before. There is no risk in Danimpata and Damai villages and the embankment work of Damai village is being carried out smoothly from the budget allocated by the state government, said Ward Chairman Soti. Ward Chairman Soti said that the locals did not lodge any complaint and only a limited number of people acted out of self-interest.
