Nepali students have staged a sit-in at the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu, expressing dissatisfaction over their long stay even after being granted a visa to study in Japan. The students staged a sit-in in front of the embassy at Pani Pokhari on Friday. The students staged a peaceful sit-in in front of the embassy carrying placards with slogans like "When will the ban be lifted?" Students participating in the sit-in have recently accused Japan of charging students according to their intake but maintaining the entry ban and jeopardizing the academic career of foreign students. "After completing all the procedures and obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility Certificate (COE) and visa from various colleges and universities in Japan for higher education, the ban on entry into Japan for study is still in place. According to the students, about 11,000 people have not been able to go to Japan even after getting COE.
