Police in the Madhesh province have arrested a man on the charge of murdering his pregnant wife recently.
Ajaya Mahato Koiri (27), a permanent resident of Sitamarhi, India, but currently residing in Malangawa municipality-9 of the Sarlahi district in Madhesh, Nepal killed his wife Apsana Khatun aka Radha recently, informs DSP Prakash Bista of the Mahottari Area Police Office.
Khatun’s body was found in a forest in Mahottari on February 14 and Mahato was arrested after two days.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Pramod Raut, a resident of Malangawa-9, on the charge of assisting Mahato Koiri to execute the murder plan.
A preliminary investigation suggests Mahato Koiri had taken his wife to Mahottari for a visit. But, he took her inside a forest area under the Sagarnath Forest Development Project and killed her.
The wife was in the eighth month of her pregnancy.
Following the murder, the man reportedly left his two sons at a nearby hotel and ran away.
