The Human Rights and Peace Society staged a demonstration on April 24 on the occasion of 16th Democracy day demanding that the election be made frugal and corruption-free.
Speaking after the demonstration, Govinda Khanal, Central President of the Society for Human Rights and Peace, said that the costly election has increased corruption and wrong governance practice, adding that a corruption-free society and good governance were essential for the defense and stability of democracy. He said that the forces of change fighting for democracy should stand together and protect the achievements.
Ram Raj Pokhrel, president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Rupendehi, said that democracy would be incomplete without complete freedom of the press.Central Secretary of the Peace Society Mina Dhakal, central member Bishnu Bhusal, former district president of the society Harish Dhakal and other activists participated in the demonstration.
