Independent Youth Society took out a torch rally in Old Baneshwor of Kathmandu on Monday evening protesting against price hike. The Independent Youth Society led by Kunti Pokharel on Monday evening protested against the government saying that the government has backed away from its responsibility to control inflation and encouraged inflation.

Participants at the protest and police also briefly scuffled during the event as police intervened in the torch rally. The government increased the price of petroleum products since Sunday night. The youth society has demanded the government to immediately reverse the price hike, saying that it will directly or indirectly affect the general public.
