Locals padlocked the Chaudandigadhi municipality in Udayapur on April 16, after an alleged audio in which Dev Prakash Rai the personal secretary of mayor can be heard asking for bribe went public. According to the eyewitness, the locals who were also affiliated with CPN-(Maoist Center), Nepali Congress, and Janata Samajbadi Party(JaSaPa) were involved in the padlocking and demonstration. The locals were agitated after the accused demanded a 1.5 lakh bribe from the applicant for the Anami admission opened by the Municipal Health Branch.
