A woman has been murdered in Lakshmipur, situated in ward number 6 of Haripur, Sarlahi, over a dowry dispute. Police have taken control of a body that was in the process of being hastily cremated in Lakshmipur. Indrakala Devi Sah, approximately 45 years old and a resident of the same area, died after her husband, Rajaram Sah, severely assaulted her, according to police. Indrakala was injured during a dispute over dowry and was left untreated at home, where she died some time later.

After receiving news that Indrakala Devi's body was being prepared for cremation in the Lakhnadehi River, the police took control of the body that was in the process of being hastily cremated, informed Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent Dipendra Panjiyar from the District Police Office of Sarlahi. “The body, half-burned from the pyre that was in process in the Lakhnadehi River located on the border of Lalbandi and Hariban, has been taken into control and sent to the Provincial Hospital Sarlahi for a postmortem," said Panjiyar.

Indrakala Devi's husband Rajaram has been absconding since the day of the incident. The police have taken six people who assisted in the cremation without completing the legal procedures into custody.
