Bajura, Bajura ma pani ko sankat. Dozens of villages in Bajura district are witnessing water crisis as dry season began. The problem has been worsened as many sources of water went dry. Many spouts in villages are in a dilapidated condition for want of conservation and renovation. Sallena, Nuwakot, Bhotebanda and Duduli of Badimalika Municipality; Basali and Bajedi of Brahmatola VDC; Matesanghu of Jayabageshwori; Gawani Dhamigaun, Toli and Chhatara of Gudukhati; Barhabis; Sherkatiya of Pandusain among other settlements are reeling under a water crisis.

People in those settlements have said that they do not face any problem during rainy season as water sources provide enough water during the season. "But in the winter season, they all go dry," they said. A local, Durga Mahato, said a family has to assign one of its members just to fetch water for a day. She added that many kids miss school classes as they have to fetch water in the morning. Moreover, taking care of health and hygiene has become troublesome in the villages. Bajura has been declared open defecation free zone on November 20, but locals can not use toilets due to lack of water, they said. Hansha Thapa, the engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, also admitted that many settlements are hit hard by the water crisis.
