A seven-year-old girl was raped by a bus conductor at Gumarchok, Sankhu of Shankarapur Municipality-12 on Saturday, police said. The girl had gone to the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley to picnic along with her family members. The alleged rapist has been identified as 20-year-old Bharat Budhathoki. He hails from Chautara of Sindhupalchok and was currently residing at Sankhu. Budhathoki worked for the bus with registration number Ba 3 Kha 2908, which the picnickers had hired for the day, as driver's assistant. Taking advantage of her innocence, police said, the perpetrator had taken the victim to the jungle above Bajrayogini Temple and raped her there at around 2 pm yesterday. Police swung into action and arrested the accused following a complaint from the victim's family. He was arrested at around 8 pm, police said.
