NHRC Recommends Compensation and Legal Action in Simraungadh Incident

National Human Rights Commission recommended compensation in the incident of the Simraungadh incident that occurred on October 11. It has also asked the government to take legal action against those responsible in the incident. Jay Narayan Patel, 42, of Hariharpur VDC-7 was killed when the APR team fired at a rally organized by students and locals. NHRC recommended Rs 300,000 as compensation to the family and free education up until higher education to his three children. A statement issued by the acting secretary of NHRC on January 6 says that the rights body has also recommended compensation of Rs 100,000 for Mahammad Sah Hawari, 30, of Hariharpur VDC-5 who was shot injured. The recommendation also includes disciplinary action against the policeman who led the team on the spot as per Article 132 (2) (e) of the Interim Constitution and to identify and take action against the policemen whose firing killed Patel and injured Sah.
