Shankar Kharel, the publisher and chief editor of New Srishti daily, being published from Biratnagar Sub-metropolis has received death threats by the head of the Sub-metropolis and its chief engineer on January 11. Kharel said that Sub-metropolis head Gopal Prasad Regmi and engineer Bharat Neupane came to his house and threatened him as they were angered by the news exposing sub-standard work of a project carried out the Asian Development Bank with the budget of Rs 2.43 billion. Kharel has filed a complaint at District Police Office, District Administration Office, National Human Rights Commission Biratnagar, FNJ Morang and INSEC asking for safety and security. When asked, DSP Prabhu Prasad Dhakal said that they were trying to manage Kharel's security after receiving a complaint.
