Mahendra Kathariya from Ghusari village of Joshipur VDC-8 allegedly burned his wife to death on Wednesday night. The District Police Office, Kailali, said Kathariya set the 33-year old wife Mira on fire after sprinkling kerosene and covering her body with wheat chaff and straw. Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Bharat Saha said the Kathariya confessed the crime, saying wife Mira returned drunken from a fair and collapsed on the courtyard. Seeing her at such condition, Kathariya, in a fit of rage, burnt her to death. "I tried a lot to make her abandon alcohol but she never stopped," he said to the police. The people from the neighborhood informed police after seeing a person being burnt in the house. But, Mira died before the police reached the place of the incident. Police arrested the alleged murderer.
