District Court of Okhaldhunga ordered to remand 32-year-old Phadindra Bahadur Karki of Ropcha VDC-5 in custody on January 13, 2015, on the charges of raping a 10-year-old girl. The single bench of District Court Judge Subash Babu Puri issued a verdict to remand the accused in custody for investigation, said Police Inspector Baidyanath Yadav. The accused is a domicile of Siddhicharan Municipality-5 and is a computer sub-operator at the Vocational and Skill Development Center.

Karki was arrested by the police on December 25, 2014, on the charge of raping the girl on December 23, and a rape case against him was registered by the police on December 27. The victim underwent a health checkup on December 25 at the district hospital of Rumjatar. It has been revealed that there had an attempt to settle the case out of the court. The women rights activists had presented the memorandum on December 28 at District Administration Office and District Police Office demanding an immediate investigation of the case.
