Tension ran high at Jana Andolan Chowk in Rajbiraj for almost two hours on Wednesday when CPN-UML cadres led by district in-charge Niranjan Jha clashed with cadres of UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi parties. The opposition parties had organized a corner meet at the chowk when a group of CPN-UML cadres led by district in-charge Niranjan Jha reached the area chanting slogans. The UML had taken out the rally to protest the torching of their office allegedly by the cadres of opposition parties two days ago. Police intervened to take the situation under control. The police team that was deployed to the scene was led by sub Inspector Kedar Dhakal. Addressing the corner meeting, the leaders of the opposition parties accused Nepali Congress and UML leaders of trying to bring a new constitution by taking advantage of their two-thirds majority in the Constituent Assembly. UML district member Subhak Lal Ram sustained serious injury to his head in the scuffle. Chairman of UML Saptari chapter Govinda Neupane informed that Subhak Lal was immediately rushed to Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital after the incident.
