Rupandehi in risk of leprosy, 43 leper found in months

According to the District Public Health Office, this year 43 leprosy patients have been found in the Rupandehi district in the last 4 months. Last year too 165 leprosy patients were found in the Rupandehi district. The District Public Health Office made this information public during a program conducted to celebrate the 62nd world leprosy day. Although the government had announced Nepal Leprosy Free in 2010 it is still rife in the Rupandehi district. Last year 45 leprosy patients were cured of the disease. Specially Devdaha, Makrahar, Karahiya, Paroha, Dudhrakchhya, Saaljhandi, and Rudrapur VDCs of Rupandehi have been found to be more vulnerable to Leprosy.
