Shanat Devi Pariyar, 37, of Bharatpur Municipality has filed a complaint against her husband Prem Kumar Pariyar, 40, at Women and Children Service Centre of District Police Office on February 1 saying that she was battered by her husband. She said that she was at the maternal home to attend the final rites of her father when Prem Kumar arrived with a baton and that she managed to escape only after her brother intervened. She has suffered bruises in legs and other parts of the body. SI Kailash Chaudhary of the WCSC said that they arrested the accused as soon as receiving the complaint and that they would talk with both sides on February 2.
