On 20 Feb, locals of 12 VDCs and Municipalities (Piprasimara, Bhawanipur, Jitpur, Dumarwana, Manarhawa, Phattepur, chhatapipar, and lipanimal, Inarwasira, Rampur Tokani, Amlekhjung and Buniyad VDCs and a Nijgadh municipality) of Bara district have called a general strike for an indefinite period against the revoking of government's decision to set up service centres of Land revenue, land reform and survey offices. Markets, roads, industries and educational institutions in the given VDCs and municipalities are affected by the strike. However, vehicular movements on the East-West highway are open.
