A smuggler succumbed to gunshot injuries that were fired by the police to retaliate against a gang of cannabis smugglers here in the Dobhan jungle of the Lothar VDC of the Chitwan district on Friday. The incident took place as soon as the police team arrived at Dobhan jungle acting on a tip-off that some 50 to 60 marijuana smugglers were gathering at the area. According to DSP Rajan Adhikari, the man with the identity yet to be disclosed breathed his last on the way to the hospital. Police fired at the smugglers in retaliation as smugglers opened fire at the police team as soon as the police reached the area, said Adhikari. Police said they have also recovered a sack of marijuana, a gun, its cartridge from the incident site. Rajesh Tamang, another gang member was also injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College, said police.
