The district court of Ilam has sentenced a 17-year-old boy of Siddhithumka VDC-1 to 10 years in prison on the charge of raping an 11-year-old girl. Police arrested the boy who had been on the run after raping the girl on August 15, 2011, on February 23, 2015. According to Shrestedar Jagadishwor Bhattarai of the district court, the verdict issued by justice Prakash Dhungana also fined the accused rupees twenty thousand to compensate the victim. Meanwhile, police have arrested Purna Bahadur Sanwa, 52, of Jamuna VDC-4 on March 10 on the charge of raping a 24-year-old woman on March 6. Family of the victim registered a complaint against him at the police office on March 7. Her health check-up was conducted at the district hospital on March 7.
