The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) could not remove waste from the metropolis after the locals at the landfill site disrupted movement of garbage loaded vehicles in Sisdol of Nuwakot district. The locals torched and vandalized some vehicles in the landfill site following the incident. The damage to vehicles is over Rs. 30 million. The solid waste management activities have been affected following the incident but efforts are made to settle the problem holding talks with kin of the victim, he said. Shrestha stressed on the need of finding the alternative to garbage management for people in Sisdol time and again created disturbances on the garbage management putting forth various demands. Kathmandu produces around 500 metric tonnes of solid waste daily.
