NEA staffers held with bribe

Sarlahi/March 13, Nepal Bidhudh pradhikaran ka karmachari ghus sahit pakrau. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has detained three employees of the Lalbandi branch of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in Sarlahi with bribe on Thursday. A CIAA team arrested supervisor Mohan Kumar Singh, electrician Atmaram Dhungel and helper Ramashankar Pasawan with Rs 70,000 from their office room. The arrested trio allegedly received the amount promising to connect electricity to the Thapaliya Rice Mill. According to CIAA Officer Krishna Dahal, the team raided the office and detained the three NEA staffers after receiving a complaint. Meanwhile, Singh has admitted that he received the amount as a bribe . He claimed Singh gave him the amount to keep it in his drawer. It is learnt that the proprietor of the mill wrote to the NEA office for power connectivity but the work was delayed demanding Rs 150,000 as bribe . Finally, they agreed for Rs 70,000, Dahal said.
