Rautahat Chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has started an indefinite relay hunger strike in front of the DAO to protest the government’s decision to establish service centre at Chandrapur, Rautahat, from today. Some time ago, the government had decided to set up service centre of Inland Revenue Office, Office of Land Survey and Land Reform, among others, in eight Tarai districts to provide service to people at convenient places. Lawyers, party leaders and others have started a relay hunger strike at the initiative of FNCCI Rautahat chapter Chairman Kanthmuni Jayaswal.

Party leaders and cadres from NC, UML and UCPN-Maoist are participating in the strike. The Lekhapadhi Kanoon Byabasai Association took to the street with pen-down strikes, regular work stopped at various government offices, including inland revenue and land survey in the district. Service seekers had to return home without getting their work done. Earlier, Kalaiya locals had launched an agitation against the government decision to set up the service centre in Simara of Bara. After the agitation took an ugly turn, the government had withdrawn its decision. Irked by the government decision, Simara residents had then taken to the street. Political parties had worked to pacify the agitating locals of Simara to call off their stir.
