22-year-old Majephur Miya of Jandaul VDC-5 has been remanded in custody following a District Court order on March 18 on the charge of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl. A single bench of District Court Judge Nawa Raj Dahal issued the order to remand the accused in Rajbiraj prison. Miya is accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl while she was sleeping at her home on May 19. The victim's mother lodged a petition at Appellate court after the police refused to register the case. The Appellate court had issued a mandamus against Area Police Office of Kanchanpur to register the case on September 21. The accused was arrested by the police on February 20.
