DPO Mahottari has arrested a junior police officer on the charge of raping an 18-year-old girl here in Sonmai of Mahottari. Policeman Brij Kumar Yadav was arrested based on a complaint filed by the victim. The accused had raped a girl of Sonmai VDC-1 while she was sitting with a male friend in room no 3 of Pardesi hotel in Jaleshwor. Yadav reportedly beat the male friend before forcing him out of the room, he then locked the girl inside the room and raped her. Deputy Superintendent of Police Lokendra Shrestha said that police would provide further information into the matter through a press conference after receiving the victim's medical report.
