A supervisor of the Nepal Electricity Authority Chandrapur Branch was caught red-handed while taking bribe on Tuesday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team deployed from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Tangal and Regional Police Office, Bardibas under the command of Section Officer Krishna Dahal and DSP Santosh Acharya caught Umesh Kumar Yadav at the Alpine Hotel along the East-West Highway while he was receiving bribe from a service seeker to install a three-phase electric power.
Baiju Sah, owner of the Rahul Rice Mills, Rangapur-2 had filed an application at the NEA office to connect the three-phase electric power two months ago.
It has been learnt that Yadav had asked Rs. 200,000 from Sah to connect the electric power in the rice mills.
The team of the CIAA paraded Yadav along with the money at the Alpine Hotel following the arrest.
The Commission said that Yadav has confessed his crime.
Preparations are underway to take him to the Capital for investigation.
DSP Acharya informed that Yadav will be charged under Section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.
