Province 1, Sunsari, Dharan
A group of local women have protested before Area police office in Dharan saying that the police refused to register FIR on the murder case.
Around 50 women surrounded APO Dharan, demanding that police register complaint against the death of a local woman Anjali Rai of Pragati-to who they believe was murdered by her husband and in-laws. Anjali was found dead hanging by her shawl in her house on Sunday night. Although police believe that it was apparently a suicide, the victim's parental side and the local women doubt it. Blue marks were found on the victim's body indicating that she might have been beaten by her husband with whom she had fought in the morning that day. She often used to have a fight with her husband Sujan Shrestha.
DSP Sudham Kumar Sijapati said that police would initiate further legal action only after conducting detailed investigation into the matter.
