2015-04-11

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

A couple was found dead in Chabahil in Kathmandu on Saturday. Police, however, suspected that man might have strangled his wife and later killed himself on Friday night. 37-year-old Ram Bijay Yadav and his wife Sunita Devi of Gaur-5, Rautahat, were found dead along with a “suicide note” in their grocery store. Police said the couple, who often stayed at the store overnight, did not go to their rented room located near the shop on Friday as well. On Saturday morning, their children called their parents, and but they did not respond. And later, the daughter opened the door using a spare key to find their parents lying dead. The husband had hanged himself while the wife was lying dead on the bed. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh of the Metropolitan Police Circle in Gaushala said quoting neighbors that the couple would frequently get into bitter altercations that sometimes resulted in physical violence to the wife. He said the note found in the room states that the violence “ensued due to family reasons”. “We have sent the letter for the forensic test while the post-mortem will tell the exact reason for the death,” Singh said, adding, “Initial investigations show that the husband had frequently accused his wife of infidelity and this was the major cause of their dispute.”
