Quake toll hits 4,310

As aftershocks continuously hit various parts of the country since Saturday, the death toll has reached 4,310, while the number of injured remains more than 7,600 till Tuesday morning, police said. The government has announced nine districts as highly-affected areas. Based on human casualty, Sindhupalchowk, Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Dhading, Bhaktapur, Gorkha, Kavre, Lalitpur, and Rasuwa have been declared the most-affected districts. Similarly, the government has found that altogether 60 districts have been affected by the earthquake. Of those killed in the earthquake, 923 are from Kathmandu, 240 from Bhaktapur, and 157 from Lalitpur while the rest are from outside the Valley. Of the dead, 50 are from the eastern region, 2259 from the central region, 231 are from the western region, and two from the mid-west. The Home Ministry said the authorities have so far handed over 709 dead bodies in Kathmandu, 238 in Bhaktapur, 152 in Lalitpur, 29 in the eastern districts, 1857 in the central region, 133 in western and two in the mid-western region.

Police have also made public the identity of 10 foreign nationals who died in earthquakes. Of them, two are French, three Chinese, two Indians, and one each from the United States and Australia. They were found dead in Kathmandu, Solukhumbu, and Makwanpur. Meanwhile, the home ministry has requested one and all to drink clean water and maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
