Syangja quake victims yet to get relief form the Government

 Even after 12 days after the devastating earthquake that struck the nation on April 25, the quake victims in Syangja are yet to get succor. Though the Nepal government has promised to provide relief materials to the quake victims across the country, Syangja has not got any relief yet. The promise was only limited in words, a local victim lamented. The victims have been surviving only with the relief materials provided at the local level. "No relief material has been received by the victims yet," Chief District Officer, Indu Ghimire, said, "The government is treating us as if the earthquake has not touched Syangja district."

According to a report prepared by the District Police Office, Syangja, 2,043 houses have been completely damaged and 9,478 houses sustained partial damages. Police Inspector Indra Subedi informed that six persons were injured in the powerful jolt. He further informed that 7,500 people have been rendered homeless. It has been learned that the District Disaster Management Committee distributed tarpaulin sheets to 973 groups.
