Province 1, Taplejung, Sidingba, Ward 4
A most wanted criminal in police list has evaded arrest after exchanging gunfire with a police team at Sawa VDC in Taplejung district early Saturday. Mandela Limbu, a convicted felon, opened fire at a police team that had reached at his home to make the arrest. Limbu has been on the most sought-after list of the police for the murder of one Ram Tamang in the Capital. The police team had rounded Limbu’s house at 5 am today. However, Limbu, after knowing about police presence, fired bullets towards the team and fled the house. Police also opened fire at Limbu in retaliation. This was the fourth attempt made by police to arrest Limbu since DSP Shanti Raj Koirala took the charge as police chief. Police said that locals in the area are forced to live in fear due to Limbu’s repeated acts of violence.
