Teachers give five-day ultimatum to government

 Confederation of Nepali Teachers (CNT) on Sunday gave a five-day ultimatum to the government to implement the agreement it reached with teachers in the past. Speaking at a programme organised in the capital, Keshav Niraula, president, CNT, warned the government of stern protest programme if it failed to implement past agreements and fulfil their demands within the given time. The teachers have been demanding that the government implement the agreement reached in the past, approve the amendment to the Education Act, ensure the right of further education of students from the technical and vocational stream, provide an allowance for teachers working in remote areas as well as give school uniform allowance for teachers, among others. He said that their protest programme will be conducted peacefully without halting academic activities and violating students’ right to education.
