Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Corruption and irregularity are being suspected in the procurement of computers and other equipment by the information technology department of the Supreme court. The department is led by the chief justice Ram Kumar Prashad Sah. The Supreme court had called for a tender for the purchase of computers, printers, laptops, and other equipment in its information technology department. But massive irregularity is being suspected in the tender process after the tender was awarded to a company named "World distribution Nepal" which proposed to provide a computer at rupees seventy one thousand and four hundred. This amount is rupees ten thousand more per computer than the one proposed by another bidder, "International electronics concern". "International electronics concern" had proposed to provide the computer at the cheapest price of all the bidders to the Supreme court. At this rate, the court is expected to incur an excess amounting to rupees forty lakh on the purchase of computers alone. This action violates the public procurement law.
