A girl is suspected to have been murdered after she was raped in a maize field near Old Bus Park in Gaighat yesterday night. The body of the girl was found in the field on Sunday morning. Locals had reported to the police about the incident after they witnessed the body lying in the field today morning. “Preliminary investigation shows that the girl might have been killed after she was raped,” police said. Udayapur Police Chief SP Tek Bahadur Gurung said the body has been taken to the district hospital for autopsy. SP Gurung said that details would come out after the autopsy. Gurung pledged to bring the guilty to justice at any cost. The victim had returned home after working for three years in Kuwait two months ago. The victim’s father said that his daughter was preparing to go to Dubai to work there. “My daughter was returning home after arranging necessary documents at Bhaluwachaur in Sunsari,” he said. He said that his daughter had asked him to receive her at the Bus Park. “I waited there till 8:00 pm. But, she neither came nor called me.” He added that his daughter did not have any enemies.
