A 23-year-old woman has allegedly been expelled from home by her husband and in-laws for not giving birth to a baby boy. Lalita Raya claimed her husband Lalan Raya and the in-laws at Belbari-2 in Morang district forced her out of their house last year for giving birth to the baby girl. According to Lalita, the in-laws have demanded Rs 200,000 cash and a motorcycle before they allow her to stay in the house. Lalita, daughter of Laxmi Raut of Janakpur-14, was married to Lalan three years ago. She said her husband and in-laws started misbehaving her soon after her daughter was born two years ago. “I took loan and gave Rs 700,000 and two tolas gold as dowry. Now they demand a motorcycle and Rs 200,000” Laxmi said. Lalita and her father have been frequenting court and police office seeking justice. Though the District Court has given its verdict in favour of Lalita, the ruling is yet to be implemented.
