Police in Sunsari district has arrested Nabaraj Rai, 40yrs, from Chatara on the charge of raping an eight-year-old minor girl. Nabaraj is also relative of the raped victim. Nabaraj reportedly raped the minor girl on Monday, Jul 13. After knowing about the incident Nabaraj's wife informed the police about it and he was arrested accordingly. Nabaraj is building a new house had been living at the victim's house for a year and a half. The victim's mother had gone to Chhintang in Dhankuta on Monday when the incident occurred.

Area police office Mahendranagar has launched a further investigation into the incident by holding the accused in custody. Inspector Ram Bahadur Dhakal informed that the arrested had not confessed his crime. He also informed that the raped victim had been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for a medical check-up.
