2015-07-21

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Ward 24

Tension flared in Basantapur in the capital on Tuesday afternoon after cadres of fringe parties obstructed the process of public feedback collection on the draft of the new statute. The scuffle was triggered after cadres of CPN-Maoist and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal entered the stage chanting slogans. Some locals too sustained injuries in the clash. Police then stepped in after the cadres burned copies of the draft near the stage while the function was underway. DSP Binod Ghimire said police arrested two people for obstructing the program. Feedback collection has resumed now in presence of lawmakers Nabindra Raj Joshi and Rajya Laxmi Shrestha. Clashes have been reported in different parts of the country on the final day for gathering public feedback.
