District Court Khotang has sentenced Harka Bahadur Bishwakarma, 55, of Yamkha VDC-6 to 15 years in prison convicting him of rape of a 7-year-old girl. The court also awarded Rs 75,000 compensation to the victim. The single bench of Ishwari Prasad Gautam made the decision according to number 3 (1) of Chapter on Rape of Country Code, slapping 12 years for rape and 3 years as number 2 of Chapter on Incest, registrar Shiva Prasad Parajuli said. Bishwakarma was taken to Diktel prison on remanded on June 10 after being of raping the girl on May 12. He was arrested at his home on May 13. The girl’s medical check-up was conducted at District Health Office Diktel on May 13. DM Chamling Rai
