Hindu activists have called a strike in Bardiya on Tuesday demanding to declare the country a Hindu state in the new constitution. Market areas remained shut, while vehicles remained off the road due to the closure. Educational institutes and industries have also been affected. Hindu organisations World Hindu Federation, Shiva Sena Nepal, Brahmin Chhetri Samaj, among others, had called the strike demanding reinstating Nepal as Hindu state in the constitution.

Joint Struggle Committee of Hindutva Supporters Group like World Hindu Federation, Nepal Shiv Sena, Swadharma Sanskriti Samrakshan Campaign and Brahmin-Chhetri Society have called one day Bandh in Bardiya and Banke Districts for today. The Bandh is observed to be very effective in Bardiya District and partially effective in Banke District as of this hour. Traffic halted in East-west highway (Kusum, Banke to Karnali Chisapani, Bardiya), Nepalgunj- Gulariya road and Partial traffic observed in Kohalpur- Nepalgunj Road. However, the Bandh is observed less effective in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.
