The supporters of Undivided Far-West enforced Far-Western Region bandh for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday, bringing normal life to a grinding halt. Schools, factories, shops, market places, government and non-government offices remained closed owing to the bandh. Flights to and from Geta Airport in Dhangadi were also halted. All passenger buses including those plying in the short and long route have remained off the roads, forcing many people to travel on foot. Loyalists of the Far-West have been staging demonstration in different areas of the region every day. They have been demanding not to divide the region in the federal set-up. Markets have started to witness shortage of daily commodities due to the strike. According to Narendra Khadka, Joint Secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Doti chapter, the markets in Doti Bazaar have started to face shortage of vegetables and food products. Farmers of the Dadeldhura district complained that their vegetables have started to putrefy due to bazaar shutdown. Similarly, rickshaw pullers of Kailali and Kanchanpur have facing hardship to solve hand-to-mouth problems. As many as 42 lawmakers representing Far-West have also expressed their solidarity to the strike. The organisers of the bandh have warned of continuing the shut down until a commitment is received to keep the far-west integrated in the new federal design of the country.
