Sudurpashchim, Kailali, Dhangadhi

Normal life in Far-western region has been severely affected due to the series of continuous bandh organized by the locals of the Tharu community protesting the segregation of Kailali and Kanchanpur district from Tharuhat state. Similarly, Hindu Rastra Sangharsha Samiti is also on protest demanding the reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu state. DSP Bikram Chand of District Police Office Kailali informed that normal life had been rendered difficult due to the bandh although no untoward incident had been reported. Since Kailali serves as the entry point to all other districts of Far-western region disruption of the transportation system and other services has also been reflected in other districts. Locals are worried that items of daily use are running low due to the bandh. The Tharu protesters have declared that they would not halt the bandh until the two districts Kailali and Kanchanpur, which are proposed to be in Sudur-Paschim state are returned to Tharuhat province. Meanwhile, the Hindu Rastra Sangharsha Samiti has also decided to continue to the bandh until their demand of reinstatement of Nepal as a Hindu state is fulfilled.
