More cops to be flown to Jumla as protest enters third day

The demonstration launched in the district against the inclusion of Karnali zone in the far-west province has entered third day on Tuesday. The UCPN (Maoist) is leading today's agitation supported by major political parties. Protesters have also demanded Karnali Zone be made a separate Karnali province Meanwhile, additional security personnel have been mobilized in the district taking the 'escalating security threat' into consideration. A troop of 70 Armed Police Force (APF) is set to arrive in the district through chopper from Nepalgunj. Nepal Army personnel guarded the District Administration Office on Monday. Mobile, internet service obstructed At a time when demonstration is taking peak, the local administration said services of stated-owned Nepal Telecom will be obstructed for three hours today. "Telecommunication tower is being repaired," Chief District Officer Deependra Raj Pandey said, "That's the reason for obstruction of landline, mobile and internet services," he said, adding that all the services will resume from 2 pm onward.
