A complaint has been registered in the NHRC against the excessive use of force by police during recent protest movement organized by Dalit rights activist in Kathmandu. 26 persons including Dalit rights activist Kamala Hemchuri, Ganesh BK, former lawmaker Binod Pahadi were injured during the laathi-charge by police when the former were staging peaceful demonstration demanding the guarantee of Dalit's right in the constitution. Video footage showing the police brutally attacked the demonstrators was also submitted to the NHRC at the time of complaint registration. The NHRC has said that it would immediately start an investigation into the incident and take actions accordingly.
