A woman has filed a case of divorce at the District Court after her family pressured her to change her religion. 20-year-old Sunita Shrestha of Himganga VDC-6 filed a case of divorce on August 11 after her husband Nar Bahadur Sunar of Himganga VDC-6 and family pressured her to convert to Christianity. Sunita was married to Sunar four years ago. Nar Bahadur had converted to Christian after the marriage. Sunita said that she is the only Hindu in the family. She said that she has been staying in her maternal home for one year after her husband and in-laws pressured her to change her religion. According to Sunita, she sought a divorce from the court as she could not stand the pressure to convert into Christianity.
