A woman in Darbes-3, Morang has been expelled from her house after being subjected to physical and mental torture by her in-laws for giving birth to a girl child. After giving birth to the baby girl the woman's husband Lil Bahadur Baral, brother-in-law Hukum Baral and her sister-in-law accused her of having a relationship with other men and refused to own up the baby as being from their family. The victim Yam Kumari said that the family used to treat her well and used to tell her to go for a medical check-up regularly. But after delivering a baby girl the family's behaviour towards her suddenly changed and she was inflicted physical and mental torture by her husband. Unable to endure the torture at the hands of her husband and in-laws the victim has sought a divorce and rightful property from her husband. But her husband has cleverly transferred all his property to his sister’s name thereby leaving nothing left to be given. She also reported that she still gets a death threat from her in-laws.
