Four persons were injured when police fired plastic bullets towards agitating protestors in Basa, Nawalparasi district. The clash began when police tried to open the strike along the East-West highway called by protestors against the proposed state delineation in the new constitution. Police fired five rounds of plastic bullets and 20 shells of tear gas to disperse the crowd. Komal Chaudhary of Atarhati received injuries to his left hand while Tarai Madhes Sadhbhavana Party leader Surendra Patel was injured on his right hand. Similarly, Ram Prasad Yadav and Bikas Harijan were also injured in the firing. The injured are receiving treatment at Prithivi Chand Hospital. Protestors also vandalized a vehicle carrying The Himalayan newspaper early Saturday morning.
